Adventure Time! Finn and Jake Cake

Not only was the idea of this themed cake extraordinary, but the cake itself was as well! It'll just make you want to shout "Oh My Glob!".  It's exterior simplicity reflects on Adventure Time's simple cartoon theme, while its chocolate and caramel interior offers a more intermediate side of things.  A sweet yet slightly salty caramel buttercream frosting also lies between each chocolate cake layer. Yum!

Surprisingly, no edible paper was used this time; this cake is 100% fondant! The eyes, nose, mouth, tongue teeth, ears, you name it - are all cut and sculpted from fondant. Although edible paper can be extremely useful on certain cakes, fondant allows for the cake to demonstrate more of its own dimension.

As if Finn wasn't enough character for this fun cake, I then sculpted a miniature Jake the Dog character to place sitting on the edge of the cake.
~ Isn't Jake just the best? ~
I had to incorporate him, or the cake would have felt incomplete without him! Finn and Jake are always together, and by having the contrast of small Jake next to Finn reminds people of Jakes size and shape changing abilities.

For the bottom of the cake, I just piped along the side some vibrant green frosting to give the appearance of grass, and to clean up the sides of the cake a bit. Then voila! This spectacular yet simple cake is now in existence.
